The Prime Minister became the latest high profile politician to speak out on an issue that occupies an inordinate amount of public discourse. Earlier this month Harry Potter author JK Rowling attacked Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer after he said that ‘trans women are women’. He had been attempting to end criticism that his MPs were tying themselves up in knots over what defines a woman.
