Poland has joined Finland in saying that it stands ready to supply the German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine against Russia. Poland’s PM Mateusz Morawiecki said he could transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine if a larger ‘Leopard-coalition’ is formed. The Polish PM’s comment comes after Finland said it is ready to supply tanks if Europe agrees to the move. Two Finnish politicians have launched an advocacy group that aims to push Berlin to allow sending Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Germany has been reluctant to send modern tanks to Ukraine for its fight against Russia. Berlin fears that Russia might see the transfer of modern tanks as another sign of escalation. President Zelensky, who welcomed the pledge of new fighting vehicles, criticised allies’ failure to send ‘western-style tanks’. Will Germany send its Leopard tanks to Ukraine?
