Russia hates NATO is what the world believes. But it is increasingly becoming clear that is a far-fetched assertion. You see, Turkey is a member of NATO. That should make Turkey an enemy for Russia. Of late though, it seems Russia has found a close friend in Turkey, and that Ankara is more loyal to Moscow and Vladimir Putin than it is to NATO. Russia was for so long transporting Russian gas directly to Europe via its pipelines, most importantly the recently sabotaged Nord Stream 1 route. Now, Russia is looking to transport gas to Europe and the Mediterranean via Turkey. And Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan is already onboard.
