Further aid going to Ukraine
The “significant minority” within the US House of Representatives that do not want further aid going to Ukraine is “growing”, says Internet 2.0 co-founder Rob Potter.
This comes as US President Joe Biden has vowed to stand by Ukraine after further military funding was excluded from a last-minute budget deal.
“At the beginning of the year, the administration realised that with the possibility of the Republicans winning in the House and the Senate … that funding to Ukraine would get much harder later in this year,” Mr Potter told Sky News Australia.
“So a lot of the funding was frontloaded before the midterm elections but now we’re at the point where there now needs to be more funding put forward to continue the support to the country.
“There’s obviously an overwhelming support within both houses of the US congressional system to get this done, however, during the budget debate there was a significant minority of the House that didn’t want any further aid going to Ukraine.”
