Defence Minister Peter Dutton has slammed the Greens’ new defence policy, saying Australia would be the “laughing stock of the world” if it was implemented.
The Greens’ new defence policy includes cutting defence spending in half as well as scrapping Australia’s deal to acquire nuclear submarines under the AUKUS alliance.
“We’d be overtaken,” Mr Dutton told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“We would lose any credibility in the world, we would be an unreliable partner to any of our allies.”
