Previously Neutral Nordic Countries are seeking to join NATO
One of the many fallouts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been that previously neutral Nordic countries are seeking to join NATO .
Sweden and Finland applied in May last year.
Turkiye has objected to their membership – accusing them of harbouring members of Kurdish group, the PKK, which Ankara considers a terrorist organisation.
Both Sweden and NATO say that all parties have had their say, and it is time to close the deal.
As the bloc’s membership requires unanimous approval, what would make Turkiye change its mind?
And what does all of this mean for NATO’s future?
